My Night with the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia
In the 90's, when I was in college, it seemed that everyone was totally into the Grateful Dead. I was never really a Dead Head, (they were so funny though with their "Peanut butter, honey and banana sandwiches"), but decided to go to a concert at the urging of my friends. What a night that was. It started off with me as the designated driver which was turned out to be both very good and very bad. I didn't drink and drive which came in helpful on the way to the concert when I crashed my car and the police showed up.

Stuck at Home with the Kids on Black Friday? Check Out this Totally COOL Eco-Craft!

I don't have heart shaped pans so I am using a little snowman muffin pan I have
I have been so lazy this week with work. My kiddies have been on Thanksgiving break from school and I have been spending all of my time with them. Heaven. By the way, I hope all of my US friends had a great Thanksgiving. Mine was wonderful but as I have Strep and Bronchitis (and my little one has strep too) we won't be out and about hitting the Black Friday sales.

During this Season of Compassion and Giving...Please Remember Our US Military Veterans
I have a very special place in my heart for Veterans. When I was about 10 years old, my parents invited a couple of WWII Vets to come to our home for Thanksgiving. The stories they told and the impression they made upon me were life changing. I was amazed that men who had given so much, were left in their old age with so very little. During this season of compassion and giving, I ask you to please remember our US Military Veterans.

How Macy's and You Can Help The Heart of Haiti Beat with Trade,
Not Just Aid
I receive a lot of emails from bloggers, pr firms and businesses hoping I will mention their cause, product or service on EB. I really appreciate the information and I wish I could post about every single one of them. Sadly, I just can't. Although, I was particularly intrigued by the following email I received recently and wanted to share it with you.

3 Benefits of a Home Energy Audit
3 Benefits of a Home Energy Audit
Guest Post provided by Jeff Pizzino of ProEnergy
Obtaining a home energy assessment, also known as a home energy audit, is one of the most beneficial steps a homeowner can take. It not only provides vital information that leads to a greener lifestyle but it can also lead to significant cost savings and a much more comfy home.
According to the U.S. Dept. of Energy, an energy audit is the “first step to assess how much energy your home consumes and to evaluate what measures you can take to make your home more energy efficient.”

Cancer Sucks
Yesterday was not a good day for bad news. Is any day? It seems that, as I get older, each day presents itself as an opportunity to be reminded to enjoy life to its fullest. I found out yesterday that three people I care about have just been diagnosed with cancer; two of my friends moms have lung cancer and one of my girlfriends who is my age has breast cancer. Cancer sucks.

We Saw Sarah Palin's Alaska from Our Living Room. Did you? Get the Pics, Video and Info on What You Missed Here!
Mom Sarah with son Trig
So you know I went to the BlogWorld Expo last month but I forgot to tell you about the meeting I had with the folks from TLC. I tagged along with my friend Bailey from Makeover Momma and chatted with Mark Burnett's Production folks ( they also produce Survivor) about the new TLC show called Sarah Palin's Alaska. TLC and Burnett's people were at BlogWorld to meet with bloggers and get them excited to spread the word about the new show. Hey I was pretty excited I crashed the meeting and was even more excited when they gave me a T-shirt that says, I Can See Sarah Palin's Alaska from My Living Room.

Latest on GMO Salmon...If You Want to KNOW When You are Eating Frankenfish, then Take a Moment to Tell the FDA to Clearly Label Your Food!
It is bad enough that our government is considering allowing this GMO Frankenfish fish to be sold in the US, but now we hear that if it is approved for sale ion the US, they may not be labeling it as GMO. How will you know if you are buying and eating non-GMO salmon or a Frankenfish? You won't unless you take action NOW!
I know you are busy, but do not allow yourself to use that as an excuse for apathy. Consumers, if you want to KNOW when you are eating Frankenfish, then take a moment HERE to tell the Food & Drug Administration Commissioner (FDA) Margaret Hamburg and President Obama to clearly label your food! If they decide to allow Frankenfish be sold in U.S. grocery stores and restaurants, consumers must be aware of what they are eating through a promise to label genetically modified salmon.
P.S.- I am really glad that you stopped by our Environmental Booty Blog and I hope you have learned or shared a thing or two. I hope that , now that you've found us, you won't lose us! New Green iPhone App Helps Moms and Dads Protect Their Babies. Get The Peaceful Nursery iPhone App and Get Peace of Mind Too
![]() |
My 3 girlies - 2005
I remember when my first daughter was born. I was a mess. I have heard stories of women who just slip into motherhood as effortlessly as they fit into their size 2 jeans merely weeks after delivering their little one. I don't believe those stories. There is an adorable family of seven in my community and the matriarch recently said, "I felt like I finally hit my stride after my fourth child." Seriously? I feel like I hit my stride last Saturday night after my second pomegranate martini.

Another Reason to Eat at Home! MUAH...Love Ya' Dupont! You Suck So Bad! How Do You People Sleep at Night?
Need another reason to eat at home and steer clear of fast food? Well listen up! You might remember that I am not a fan of PFOA. I am not sure anyone is a fan of PFOA except Dupont (and other chemical companies) which uses and sells it to manufacture Teflon and make water and stain repellent products. So now I have found yet another reason to ditch fast food but first let me just take a moment to send out a big kiss to my pals at Dupont...MUAH...Love Ya' Dupont! You Suck So Bad! Green Your Kid: Trade Screen Time for Together Time
Spend fun time with your kids outside
By Lynda Fassa for Environmental Booty Partner "Green Goes Simple"
This summer was fairly relaxing and unstructured for my brood. With the exception of a couple of weekends away, we opted for a home-improvement-themed staycation instead of a big trip. And while all that time in the house guaranteed a well-rested start to the school year, it also fed some bad habits.

An Update on the Gulf Oil Spill: Mississippi Fisherman and Louisiana Restaurant Owners Tell Us How They are Doing After the Spill
This weekend, I found myself thinking about the folks in the middle of the Gulf Oil Spill. I wondered if they were getting back on their feet and how BP was helping in that effort. This is what I found...
Obviously these videos are geared toward making BP look good, but are these folks lying about how pleased they are with the support they have received from BP? I doubt they are lying, but I have to wonder if the majority of folks who had their livelihoods affected are happy with the way BP has handled getting them back to work.

Live Your Passion for the Environment through a Lucrative Career
These days it seems that labeling yourself as an environmentalist can be risky business. Jokes like, "You might be an environmentalist if...you've ever thought of vandalizing SUV's" have become popular and being labeled as a "tree hugger" has, in many social circles, become a title which needs to be defended. But Environmentalist isn't a four letter word and choosing the label can not only lead to a greener future for our planet, it can also lead to a greener future (as in cold hard cash) for you. If you are wondering how to make a positive environmental impact with your passion for the environment and get one of the highest paying jobs at the same time, a degree in the Environmental Sciences could be right for you.

How to Steer Your Shopping Cart Clear of GMO's and Make Sure Your Food is NOT Genetically Modified
Yesterday I posted my favorite new song and video from the Health Ranger Mike Adams. I really really love that song and the Health Ranger is pretty easy on the eyes right? I appreciate the way that he makes something that can be confusing pretty simple to understand...Just Say No to GMO! I received a comment on yesterday's post from a very dear friend of my family that we made during our time living in Michigan. She wanted to know how exactly we can steer clear of GMO's?
I wish that I could say that making sure we are steering our shopping carts clear of GMO's is as easy to understand as the health Ranger's video, but I can't. Well that is only partially true; It is super easy for produce and although it is a bit more complicated for everything else, we can figure this out.
