Health Official Says Swine Flu Vaccine for Kids 5-20 a Mistake

Finland's National Public Health Institute is to publish an interim report on the links between narcolepsy, the swine flu, and the vaccine this coming Tuesday

Whenever I come across an article about vaccines, I tune in.  My father is in a wheelchair because of a Hepatitis-B vaccination and although he has been compensated by the Vaccine Injury Board here in the US, our family has never been the same.  My father and I will never dance again.

So you might think that I stayed away from vaccinating all of my kids but that is not the case.  I vaccinated all of my kids, albeit on a very slow schedule, and NEVER let them get a shot when they had even a sniffle.

Anyway, the following information on the swine flu vaccination, from a  YLE article, is one that I wanted to share.

Bryan Hansel, CEO of Smith Electric Vehicles, Speaks Out on President Obama’s State of the Union Electric Vehicle Pledge to See 1 Million Electric Vehicles on U.S. Roads by 2015

Smith produces the Smith Newton which is the world’s largest battery-electric-powered truck

Yeah so I missed most of Obama's State of the Union Address the other night.  I heard some of what he said as I had it on in the background.  I was listening in between helping to write my eldest's paper, helping the middle one (we actually call her the "Big, Middle, Little" one) with her math while bathing the littlest daughter. Man I am good.  Anyhoo, I tried to tune in when he spoke about energy.

I have my thoughts on what he said and I would love to hear yours, but I received a pretty interesting email this morning from the folks at Smith Electric Vehicles. The email contained a statement from Bryan Hansel, CEO of Smith Electric Vehicles, on President Obama’s State of the Union pledge to see 1 million electric vehicles on U.S. roads by 2015.

Bryan Hansel heads-up Smith Electric Vehicles Corporation which is an all-electric zero-emissions commercial truck manufacturer that I have written about in the past. Smith produces the Smith Newton which is the world’s largest battery-electric-powered truck.  Hansel's thoughts were of interest to me and I wanted to share...

“The president’s vision for America to become the first country with 1 million electric vehicles on the road by 2015 is certainly bold. While electric passenger cars still face challenges like drivers’ ‘range anxiety,’ the president’s goal is reachable thanks to the rapid growth of the all-electric commercial truck market, led by the Smith Newton. President Obama’s support for electric vehicles has helped some of America’s largest companies and organizations – including Frito-Lay, Staples, Coca-Cola, AT&T, PG&E and the U.S. Marine Corps – realize that electric trucks are good not only for the environment, but also for the bottom line. As Smith Electric continues to grow, we are grateful for the president’s continued support and confident that we will play a major role in meeting his goal of having 1 million electric vehicles on the road by 2015.”

Is Your State Going Green?

Is Your State (in orange) on this List?

If the inability of our Congress to enact safe toxic chemical laws has you wondering what the heck we, as a nation, are supposed to do to protect ourselves, wonder no more.  Some states are going green!  It seems that some states are taking unsafe chemicals to task and stepping in to get the job done.  Now I appreciate the benefit to having as little regulation as possible on industry to help our economy thrive, but when it comes to toxic chemicals in our consumer products, industry is not doing their job to protect the very people who put money in their pockets.

I have come to believe that regulation is necessary to protect our future health and the future health of our planet.  Getting the word out to protect consumers is not doing the job.  In my opinion, far too many folks are too busy worrying about how they are going to put food on their tables to be able to take the time to educate themselves on what toxic chemicals are lurking in things like their cleaning supplies.  Just because some consumers  might not have the luxury of time to become educated on this topic (and thus make better informed decisions), they should not have to suffer the consequences because they don't have all of the information.

"There’s nothing sexy about plastic bags," says Sorrentino.
Although I am not a big fan of The Jersey Shore and in fact, forbid my girls from watching it, I just might have to check it out now!  It seems that, in addition to his over exposed six-pack abs, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is now making headlines for greener reasons.  Adding to his hit list of girls who play checkers and general paleness, Mike is setting his sites on stamping out single-use plastic debuting the official Situation GTL Green Garmento, a limited edition version of the Eco-friendly all-in-one reusable dry-cleaning and laundry bag.

Bigger Breasts the Natural Way without Implants? Green Boobs...Seriously?

I never had a voluptuous chest, but after nursing three babies for a total of 5 years, my bra size is now itty bitty.  Luckily, I am married to a guy who could care less about my bra size but for me, I want a bigger chest.  As you can imagine, I am not a big fan of implants for myself as the thought of something foreign in my body kind of freaks me out. Still, last summer, at the urging of my friends who were tired of hearing me whine about my small chest and completely pleased with the results of their breast augmentations, I met with a plastic surgeon.  Suffice to say that the meeting did not go well and I left in tears.  For so many reason, implants are just not for me.

That's why when I saw an ad in a local magazine recently about NaturalFill, I was intrigued.   Have any of ya'll heard of this?

Why are Organic Wine Choices Sooooo Limited?

I can't tell you how many times I have found myself standing in front of the wine selection at Publix wondering where all of the organic wine choices are.  Everywhere I go, organic wine choices are sooooo limited.  Even at the local, quirky little sandwich shop we love, Yellow Dog Eats, which offers organic when possible and who just expanded their menu to offer fab vegan offering, the organic wine selection is slight.  While trying to find a great organic red I have literally said out loud, "Where the h@ll is all the organic wine?"   Well I think I finally may have found the answer!
