Accepting that staying in your "goal" weight zone is a part of everyday life, makes living a little more fun and a lot less stressful.  If I eat a bit too much today, I will eat a little less tomorrow.  If I miss a workout for three or four days, I get back to it as soon as I can.  As many of us know, once you have lost a lot of weight, and you truly desire to live healthy, you realize there are no simple and easy answers to keeping those pesky 10 pounds off or losing 20 pounds, 30 pounds or even more.

Eastender's, One of the BBC’s Most Watched Soap Opera's, Warns “Aspartame Causes Cancer”

It seems the folks overseas have once again beaten the good ol' USA to the health punch.  Not only do they not stand for TBHQ laced McDonald's chicken nuggets like we do in the States, they also are spreading the word about aspartame's ill effects.  In an Ellen type TV moment, a character on the popular BBC soap opera, Eastenders, warns against chewing low-calorie gum and matter-of-factly says it causes cancer.

Neil Foster, with the Sovereign Independent, thinks the aspartame mention on the BBC was a calculated move.  In a blog post this week, he warned, "I can’t believe that the BBC would put this into the most watched soap on British television without an ulterior motive."

I am thinking Neil just might be right. Maybe the BBC did make a calculated move to warn consumers about the real dangers of aspartame.  I, for one, applaud the move and can't wait to see what the rest of their ulterior motives might be.

What is Fracking? Stephen Colbert Explains The Anti Frack Attacks!

I am not a huge fan of Stephen Colbert but after watching this video I wonder why.  In just a few minutes, Stephen Colbert explains the entire fracking debate.  Okay so obviously he isn't giving a scientific lecture on the benefits and negatives of fracking.   In his famously facetious way, Colbert makes it engaging to think about what a horrid thing fracking is and this spurs people to action.  I say...

What Is Asbestos Anyway and Why Should You Care About It In Your Green Life?

You hear about it every once in a while, but what is asbestos anyway and why should you care about it in your green life?

Well, asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that was adapted for heating and insulation purposes in homes and buildings built up until the mineral was banned for use in the U.S. in the 1970s. Why was it banned? It is a direct cause of a host of health problems, primarily mesothelioma cancer, which can lay dormant in the body for up to 50 years after the inhalation of asbestos fibers and kill within months of diagnosis.

Recent Cell Phone Safety Studies Flawed But You Don't Have to Give Up Your Beloved Mobile Phone! Here are 5 Green Living Tips Your Family Can Easily Use to Avoid Cell Phone Radiation

Contrary to what the media has told you recently, the July study published in Environmental Health Perspectives doesn’t tell consumers that cell phone use is safe.  The study said that, “"Although there remains some uncertainty, the trend in the accumulating evidence is increasingly against the hypothesis that mobile phone use can cause brain tumors in adults." Sounds good right?  Wrong. This conclusion was based on data from a 2010 Interphone Study conducted in 13 countries which is of low quality and flawed.

In addition to stated conflicts of interest that The Interphone author’s had, last year BusinessWeek.com quoted Dr. Joe Moskowwitz of the University of California at Berkeley as saying that the Interphone study and its conclusions may be "biased".  He pointed out that the study actually indicated that those who used a cell phone at least 1640 hours were at a 40 percent increased risk of a glioma brain tumor.  Dr Moskowitz reviewed eight, high quality studies of cell phones and brain cancer risk and concluded that using mobile phones is correlated with a brain cancer risk.

3 Ways to Go Green and Make Every Day International Plastic Bag Free Day!

Happy Fourth of July Weekend to all!!  I hope that your weekend is going fabulously!!  We are making plans to head out to watch fireworks and listen to some great music tonight at Crane's Roost Park.  I always joke that it is kind of hard to get super excited about watching fireworks when you live in the firework capital of the country. We have Disney like practically in our backyard and we hear the booming of all of the park's fireworks every single night and can easily see them.
