Wondering How to Be Romantic? Here's How to Rev Up the Romance for under $10 and Go Green While Doing IT!

Wondering How to Be Romantic? Here's How to Rev Up the Romance for under $10 and Go Green While Doing IT!

Love ? I love love love you.

After being married for almost 20 years, there are a few things that us old married folks have learned about keeping the love alive.  The first is that nobody is perfect and we are all nobody, the second is that forgiveness is not something we do for other people, it's something we do for ourselves and finally romance is not something that just happens, it's something you must create.  If you are wondering how to be romantic with your sweetie pie, here is one sure fire way I have found to rev up the romance for under $10 and go green while doing it. But don't worry, creating the right mood for cuddling and snuggling is so easy anyone can do it in 4 easy steps, including YOU!

  1. Grab your sweetie pie and a bring the kids to your mom's, a sitter, a friend's house or anyone who will keep them occupied, happy and fed for a couple of hours or the entire night.  If you have to, put them to bed early by dangling a carrot of the promise of "special time" with mommy or daddy in front of their noses.  My kids love to have time with me alone baking, reading or grabbing a smoothie.  You know what their commodity is and now is the time to offer it in return for some quiet time with your honey.
  2. Next, turn off the lights, grab a match and light a delicious smelling My Eco Pot Soy Lotion Candle from my friends at Buy Green.  The candle is just $7 and is all natural, biodegradable and eco-friendly.  The flicker of the candle will immediately create a romantic mood and set the perfect backdrop for yummy cuddles.  But wait, you're not done yet...
  3. After you are done burning the candle, use the natural soy liquid that is left as a decadent, aromatherapy massage oil and you and your sweetheart will be ready for number 4.
  4. ?

Value VS. Expense of Buying Organic. Latest News Offers Two More Reasons to Spend More on Organic

Value VS. Expense of Buying Organic. Latest News Offers Two More Reasons to Spend More on Organic

Organic apple orchard in Pateros, Washington, USAImage via Wikipedia

Last weekend when we were at our local health food store, my husband got into it with the saleslady about the value versus expense of buying organic.  I couldn't have been more pleased as she repeated to him the same information about the benefits of buying and eating organic that I have been telling him for the last few years: no GMO toxins ingested, longer shelf life, no toxic pesticides etc.  As we left the store, she said to my daughters, "You girls sure are lucky to have a mom who cares so much about what you put into your bodies."  Then she turned to my husband and said, "And you sir, sure are lucky to have such a beautiful wife who takes such good care of your daughters and you."  I really didn't add the beautiful part.

Take a Hint from Green Star and Mom Kelly Preston and Protect Your Kids from Pesticides and Toxins. Finally a Non-Toxic, Great Smelling Foamy Hand Soap Without Triclosan

"I have been using Mountain Green laundry products for close to two years now and their all natural products are the best on the market. There are no harsh chemicals and all of their products are plant-based. Not only does this product really clean, it's also good for you and the planet!"
Kelly Preston

Moms, do you know that almost all hand soaps you buy from the big box shops contain a harmful esticide called triclosan?  I know the last thing you want to be putting on your kids, or even yourself, is a pesticide right?  Well I gave up trying to find a safe and non-toxic had soap at my local stores and, like green mom Kelly Preston, have fallen in love with Mountain Green products and their foamy hand soap.

Totally safe, plant based, vegan and even gluten free, these four naturally scented foamy soaps are safe for even the most sensitive of skin and contain no parabens or harsh sodium lauryl sulfate.  As an added plus, the packaging is 100 recyclable!  Just one more way living green helps put your mind at ease, keeps your family safe and protects our environment.

Relay Your Message for Peace Throughout the Year Without Saying a Word. 5 Ways to Celebrate International Day of Peace Today and Every Day

Relay Your Message for Peace Throughout the Year Without Saying a Word.   5 Ways to Celebrate International Day of Peace Today and Every Day

Did you know that today is International Day of Peace?  Along with Christmas, Earth Day and my birthday, I count this day as one of my favorites.  My day will be off to a perfect start when I drop off my youngest daughter at school.  We have a caring and creative art teacher who helps the children create individually decorated pinwheels for peace and places them on the front lawn along with inspirational quotes.

There are hundreds of them and the imagery is moving to say the least.  I carry the picture of not only those pinwheels for peace, but of the children that are behind their creation, with me throughout the year.

Coming Out of the Closet on Global Warming, Climate Change or Whatever They Are Calling It Today

I feel that it is finally time to come out of the closet, so to speak, on my thoughts about Global Warming in the hope that other eco-friendly types like me will begin to emerge from hiding as well.  There must be intelligent, greenies out there who have doubts about not only man being the cause of Global Warming/Climate Change or whatever it is being called today, but also doubts as to whether or not it is occurring as well.
"The claim … is that the temperature has changed from ~288.0 to ~288.8 degree Kelvin in about 150 years, which (if true) means to me is that the temperature has been amazingly stable, and both human health and happiness have definitely improved in this 'warming' period." - Nobel prize winner for physics in 1973 Dr. Ivar Giaever resigned as a Fellow from the American Physical Society (APS) on September 13, 2011 in disgust over the group's promotion of man-made global warming fears

Everyone is up in arms over solar company Solyndra's bankruptcy and today Congressional hearings begin in Washington to try to sort out exactly what happened.

"With taxpayers potentially on the hook for this half-billion dollar bust, it's time to sound the alarm about the remaining $10 billion in loan guarantees set to expire Sept. 30," Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton, R-Mich., and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chairman Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., said in a joint statement Tuesday. "Let's learn the lessons of Solyndra before another dollar goes out the door."

Does this really mean it is time to stop funding clean energy or is it simply an opportunity to learn from our mistakes and move forward?  As a taxpayer, I am not ready to give up on subsidizing clean energy, are you?

The First Saffran US in Orlando is Greening Eating Out On a Budget. Flavorful, Healthy Food Direct from Iceland with Only One Problem...

The First Saffran US in Orlando is Greening Eating Out On a Budget.  Flavorful, Healthy Food Direct from Iceland with Only One Problem...

Saffran US is my new favorite spot to eat healthy and delicious!

My youngest turned 6 last week and we hosted 7 of her closest friends at Build-A-Bear.  This was like our millionth time partying with the bears and when we were done, I was ready to sit down and relax with a bite to eat and preferably a nice, stiff drink.  But finding a place to eat out has turned into such a nightmare hasn't it?  Trying to live green means we want healthy and flavorful and most of us are living on tighter budgets these days.

Yet unless we want to spend a small fortune on one dinner out, we are forced to choose from one of the many sub shops (can you say bleh?) and fast food drive thrus (can you say no way?) which over populate the dining landscape.  This time it was my husband to the rescue with a new suggestion in Saffran US but I must tell you...they have one, big problem.  They need more locations.

When we think about what our tomorrows will look like, an obvious part of taking responsibility for our planet is to reduce and reuse. Think about it.  It is not just good for our planet to use our resources responsibly, it is good for our budget too right?  I don't know about you, but I have really struggled with the whole ban the plastic bag thing when it comes to lunch.  I have tried a ton of different reusable lunch and snack bags but I have never found one that is an all purpose and inexpensive baggie until I found mothering Mother bags.
"mothering Mother is committed to developing, promoting and distributing reusable products that replace disposable products. Our intention is to reduce the impact of disposable living upon Mother Nature by educating and encouraging a wider community commitment to changing behaviors, and by making our products accessible and affordable.  A portion of profits from mothering Mother will be shared with environmental organizations working toward Earth awareness and protection. mothering Mother encourages activity that mothers Mother in all arenas of life."-  mothering Mother

Each bag has a Velcro closure that closes tightly but the tabs on the top make it easy for even my 6 year old to pull open.  They wash up really nicely but I don't toss them in the dryer because I have found that Velcro always gets fuzzy when it hits the dryer.  I bought 2 packs of 5 bags but wish I would have purchased twice that.  Although, amazingly, all of my mothering Mother bags have made their way back to me after school in my girl's lunch boxes, I could really use more!  I could use these for coffee beans and any other smaller bulk items I buy.  Plus, mothering Mother has an entire line of bags that help us all reduce and reuse and save green.

Check out these other designs from mothering Mother...

Do you know that every single plastic bag that you have ever used, that your neighbors have used, that people all over the world have used, will remain on this earth, in some form, forever?  Plastic doesn't biodegrade.  Unless it is incinerated, which is obviously not good for our environment or ourselves, tiny bits and fragments of plastic will stick around polluting our planet, our animals and our tomorrows.

Oh and by the way, who knows what plastic baggies are made of?

It's Time for a Self Help Book That Actually WILL Create Change in Life.
Enter to Win an Autographed Copy of Cash Peters' Newest Book, "a little book about believing" and Change Your Tomorrows
"This is an important book because of the issues it raises....I highly recommend it."  Dr. Jeffrey Rediger, Harvard Medical School

So much more than a self help book, a little book about believing: The Transformative Healing Power of Faith, Love, and Surrender indeed has the power to create change in your life.  Quite unexpectedly, reading Cash Peters' newest book has completely changed not only my life, but it has changed my family life as well.  We are all happier because of the changes that I made in my life after reading one little book.

Before I read a little book about believing, I had come to a point in my life where my enthusiasm for living was weighted down with obligation.  Life was about efficiency not surrender.  Love was something I professed but not a deep feeling I shared with all of those around me.  Getting the kids from one appointment to another felt like a chore instead of an opportunity.  There was always somewhere else I needed to be or someplace else I wished to be.  Getting from one day to the next took precedent over getting what I really needed in life.  It's not that I wasn't happy or that I didn't feel blessed, I simply didn't feel alive.

Have you ever felt like that?  Have you ever felt like you needed something so desperately - an old flame, a new job, a cure for your cancer - to create the right change in your life to make you feel fulfilled...or healthy...or to make you really feel alive?  What did you do? Did you ever find what you were looking for?
"Too many people nowadays are wallflowers. Afraid to live, they shy away from any new experience that might lead to discomfort or feelings of insecurity, in case they trip, or fail, or make a fool of themselves, when in fact tripping, failing and making a fool of yourself is what life is all about." -  a little book about believing
BUY NOW

"a little book about believing, it was called. Not a religious book (for some reason, people look at the beseeching, bleeding hands on the jacket and think: “Must be religious.”), but instead a fascinating and inspiring work about spirituality and nutrition. It’s like THE SECRET, only this time about health and healing, and could be the thing that saves your life.

In a world where, statistically, one in two people – that’s 50% of us – will likely be diagnosed with cancer at some point in our lives, and where we see our friends, loved ones, and workmates dying around us, this book is one of the most reassuring pick-me-ups you could ever find, especially as a gift for someone who has been misled into believing that cancer is an automatic death sentence.

Basically, I joined a group of 24 people on a life-saving trip to spend time with faith healer John of God. The results were mind-blowing. Miracles happened while we were there. Discoveries were made that were truly extraordinary. We saw things and felt things that we’d never experienced before. The biggest discovery of all related to healing. Doctors can take it so far, we found, but in the end only you can do what’s necessary to save your life. Faith healers like John of God may help too, but the individual must play his or her part, by making changes. As it says on the jacket, there’s only one savior, and it’s YOU."  The TV Swami - aka. Cash Peters
You will find all that you have been searching for, and all that you need, to create the healthy, fulfilling life that you desire in a little book about believing.

Oh and Mr. Peters, although I haven't read The Secret, a little book about believing helped save my life and I wasn't even sick...yet.
